Spruce up your property for spring viewings

Ria Welsh, Residential Sales Consultant, looks at why now is a good time to refresh your home this spring.

Spring has officially sprung and with the market remaining as active as ever, with almost triple the amount of buyers searching for their dream property, now is the perfect time to freshen up and declutter your home.

Whether you’re planning to sell, rent or still deciding, sprucing up your home after the winter months can help inject love and life back into your interiors. We have a few tips and tricks to help guide you in the right direction and they don’t have to cost a fortune either!

Declutter and Donate

One of the most simple but effective starting points, this also saves a mammoth task further down the line, making moving so much easier.

Create three piles, keep, donate and toss and start simple, shred those old documents, donate any clothes and unwanted items, saving any sentimental items till last. Also, think about investing in new storage solutions, such as furniture with built-in storage to organise and cleverly hide things away.

Spring Clean

Whilst the thought of a full house spring clean can sound a little daunting, we suggest you take take it room by room and with less clutter to navigate through, this task will be done in no time.

Make sure to dust, hoover and mop from top to bottom, including shampooing the carpets to remove any reminisce of the rainy months.

However, for those that are still apprehensive of the dreaded spring clean, bringing in a cleaning company can help lift that weight.

Let there be Light

Allowing the natural light to flow through your home will make it feel inviting, so get those windows gleaming!

Bring the Outside In

Plants and cut flowers can add a splash of colour and vibrancy to a room, as well as a lovely fresh fragrance! Open the windows too, allowing fresh air to blow life into your home.

Change it Up

Remember not to take things personally, a neutral décor is appealing to most people as it allows them to imagine themselves in the space. So, opting for lighter shades around the house, changing the bedding and cushions or rugs, as well as incorporating different textures to completely refresh a space.

Spruce Up Your Outside Space

Simply sweeping up the leaves and cutting back any plants that didn’t make it through winter and power washing your patio and garden furniture, can instantly brighten your garden. Consider planting some flowering plants or installing some hanging baskets to kickstart for a pop of colour.

Consider staging your outdoor dining area so people can visualise what it would be like to entertain family or friends.

Lastly, Stand Out

In todays market it is important to make sure your home stands out, think about the atmosphere as a whole not just how it looks, lighting candles with a fresh scent and playing music in the background are a couple of ideas to help keep your property at the forefront of any potential purchasers memory.
