YoungsRPS, Chartered Surveyors and Property Consultants, has announced the appointment of Helen Marks as Planning and Development Consultant. This is a new role created as a direct result of increased demand for specialist services in this area and YoungsRPS’ expansion into the commercial field for their planning department, since their incorporation of Stanton Mortimer two years ago.

Helen brings with her almost 20 years’ experience working in both the private and public sectors and joins the company from the Newcastle office of Lambert Smith Hampton, where she was for over ten years acting as Director, and Head of Planning for North East and Yorkshire for the last three years.

Helen’s specialism is in providing commercial planning advice to public and private sector clients for major commercial, residential and mixed-use redevelopment proposals. This includes negotiation of development proposals, planning applications and planning appeals and includes expertise for public inquiries.  As well as private clients, she has worked for the Crown Estate, the Ministry of Defense and a number of local authorities and education providers.

In her first few weeks with the organisation, Helen has hit the ground running with her first major project, which is Strawberry Place, located in front of St James Park Football Stadium and will be a mixed-use scheme for Marrico Asset management LLP and Helios Properties.

On accepting the role, Helen said:

“I am thrilled to join the YoungsRPS team and I am looking forward to further enhancing the excellent services they provide to their wide client base.  Having worked on a diverse range of projects, everything from residential developments to commercial regeneration sites I will use my commercial expertise to provide expert advice on all the complexities that surround the planning system. My overall aim at all times is to offer support to landowners and developers and to help them realise the potential of their land or property.”

Operating across the North of England, YoungsRPS is a leading firm of chartered surveyors, planning and development advisors and property consultants, that offer an end-to-end solution.  This service takes clients through the land acquisition or identification of the suitability for development of their existing land or property, helps them to identify a design that will be successful in gaining planning permission, support them through the process of gaining the required permissions for development, all the way through to the selling on of the finished property at the end of the process.

Giving background to this appointment for YoungsRPS Robbie Hutchinson, Managing Director said:

“Helen is a great addition to our team and her appointment will further strengthen our of services in the commercial planning area thanks to her extensive knowledge.  We pride ourselves on offering our clients an all-encompassing platform for specialist planning and development matters. Our service is a proactive service, which means that no stone is left unturned in advising our clients the best route to take that meets their individual circumstances and to get a successful outcome when it comes to the final development.”
